In Ireland, the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 requires employers to ensure that their employees are trained in the safe use of ladders if they are required to use ladders as part of their work.

Falling from heights accidents are the leading cause of fatalities across all industries in ireland. My ladder safety and inspection course is aimed at all employees who may use a ladder during their working day. It is aimed to equip all employees with the skills and knowledge to use a ladder safely and to also carry out pre use inspections inline with the HSA guidelines.

Course Content :

  • The main legislation that covers work at height in Ireland, which is the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005.

  • The responsibilities of employers, self-employed individuals, and employees in relation to work at height.

  • The different types of work at height, such as working on  a variety of ladders

  • The risks associated with work at height, such as falls, struck by objects, and electric shock.

  • The control measures that can be used to reduce the risks of work at height, such as using personal protective equipment (PPE), providing safe access and egress, and using fall protection systems.

  • Emergency planning and procedures

  • Ladder safety pre use inspections

  • The reporting of accidents and incidents involving work at height.
