This self-paced training program covers manual handling and fire safety. It is designed to help new employees understand the company's health and safety policies and procedures, and to give them the skills and knowledge they need to work safely and efficiently. Course Content:

1: Manual Handling

  • Laws and legislation

  • What is manual handling?

  • The risks of manual handling

  • How to assess the risks of manual handling

  • Safe manual handling techniques

  • How to use manual handling equipment

2: Basic Fire Safety Awareness

  • Laws and legislation

  • The different types of fires

  • How to prevent fires

  • Identify the different classes of fire and fire extinguishers

  • How to use a fire extinguisher

  • What to do in the event of a fire

3: The practical Assessments

On successful completion of the Manual Handling and Fire Safety theory elements, participants will be required to complete a LIVE Practical Demonstration with a QQI L6 Instructor to assess their level of skill and competence in both of the above courses. This will take approximately 15 per person and can be done ONsite at a time that suits your staff and operation.

Health and Safety Act 2005

The Health and Safety Act 2005 is the main legislation governing health and safety in the workplace. It requires employers to take all reasonably practicable steps to ensure the health and safety of their employees and others who may be affected by their work.
