In Ireland, the primary legislation related to health and safety, including patient handling, is the Health and Safety Act 2005. This act places responsibilities on employers, employees, and other parties to ensure a safe working environment.

My patient handling course is designed to train healthcare professionals, caregivers, and family members, who need to assist or move patients or a loved one safely and efficiently. This course typically covers techniques for lifting, transferring, and supporting patients to prevent injury to both the patient and the healthcare worker. It emphasises proper body mechanics, the use of assistive devices, and minimizing the risk of musculoskeletal injuries and will incorporate manual handling techniques also
